Emilia Barrientos, born on July 2, 1985, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, displayed exceptional talent in visual arts from a young age. At 13, she enrolled in the Fashion Design Academy of Lisa Thon, winning the New Millennium Designers contest at 15. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Painting from the School of Fine Arts at the University of Puerto Rico in 2008. Her career has been marked by prolific experimentation in material art, particularly with resins and textures, culminating in a unique aesthetic marked by vibrant colors and sinuous compositions. Emilia's work, often featuring black as a symbolic element, challenges and subverts traditional imagery, inviting viewers into a chaotic synthesis of textures, colors, and volumes. With numerous solo and group exhibitions, her art has garnered recognition and is featured in collections, galleries, museums, and educational institutions across Puerto Rico.
